Support for .....
Grief
Support for grief, loss, and adjusting to the major life transition challenges.
Trauma
Support for trauma related to single incidents, and multiple childhood/adult experiences such as (but not limited to) recovering from the impact of domestic violence, workplace bullying, or critical incidents.
Grief and trauma impact our overall wellbeing and can include sleeping difficulties/insomnia, anxiety, panic, depression, and change/adjustment struggles.
Work
Support includes managing workplace change, the impact of high workloads, stress, burnout, workplace relationships, performance management, and conflict resolution.
Insomnia
30-50% of Australian adults have acute insomnia symptoms at any given time. For most this is caused by stress, grief, medical procedures or parenting young children. For about 70% of these adults the symptoms last less than 3 months before sleep returns to a normal sleep pattern.
Unfortunately about 30% go on to develop chronic insomnia and it is estimated that 2.5 million Australians adults are experiencing the condition.
CBT-i therapy is best practice therapy for insomnia and includes:
Assessment of the physical, psychological and behavioural causes of insomnia
Understand and address the perpetuating factors of insomnia
Support and guidance in restoring a healthy sleep pattern
Providing you with the knowledge and tools to self-manage any future occurrences of insomnia.

Grief & Bereavement
We grieve when we love, and when we love deeply, we also grieve deeply.
Grief is a normal part of life but can be so overwhelming, painful and isolating. For each of us, grief is a personal experience. We are on a unique journey, often without the tools or knowledge to manage what is happening.
Even though it may not feel like there will ever be a time when it does not hurt this much, healing is possible. We heal when we feel.
There is no normal way to grieve, and no normal timeline. Having time to talk about absolutely everything you are experiencing can help. It can also release the burden of guilt we so often carry. Over time we begin to integrate the love and pain. And eventually to find a way to live our lives fully.
Please call me to discuss what support you need and let’s walk this path together for a while.
Trauma
More than two thirds of the population have experienced at least one trauma in their lives. And about a quarter have experience four or more traumas. Not everyone experiences or reacts to an event in the same way. Consequently, following the event (days, months or years later) some people may have a lingering impact whilst others seem unaffected.
Traumatic experiences can overwhelmed our normal coping and processing strategies. The brain and body changes how it interacts with the world around us and we can be left with a few telltale signs that we are impacted.
Reliving and reexperiencing the event either as a strong memory or feeling physically as if you are there again
Being on high alert all the time for all which impacts sleep, diet, concentration, irritability and anger. A bit like feeling wound up and ready to snap.
Being watchful and avoiding anything that may feel uncomfortable or bring back memories. This includes people, places and experiences. Also smells, sensations, lighting, particular events, sounds, to name but a few.
The overwhelm we experience often leads us to feel numb. And we detach from relationships, enjoyment, closeness and intimacy.
The loneliness and isolation is a further hurdle to recovery.
Not surprising we often also experience depression, anxiety, stress, and relationship challenges. And all trauma has grief. The good news is that there are many things that can help us manage the impact and often change the impact altogether.
Please call me to discuss your support.
